Share your smile!

This is by all means one of my favorite sayings. (stamp set here)  It reminds me of a day many years ago.  I was walking out of the hospital from a routine appointment.  There was an older man walking into the hospital.  As we passed in the parking lot, I smiled at him and asked how he was doing.  He stopped and told me that he was having a really bad day, and was not in a good mood because of the appointment he was going to, but that my smile cheered him up.  He thanked me for smiling at him.  I gave him a hug and told him I hoped his day improved.  Little did he know that what he said to me did more for me than he realized.  To this day, I make it a habit to smile at people, say hello and wish them well.  It always amazes me how people react.

So…. I hope you’ll share your smile with people you see today!

The challenge at Flutter By Wednesdays this weeks is LAYERS!  This is right up my alley! I love lots of layers, although I’ve been attempting to work a CAS card in now and then as well.  I hope you’ll play along in the challenge – I’d love to see your creations!

Also, don’t forget I’m raffling off a 32GB Kindle Fire HD.  And my friend Suzanne is raffling off a $25 gift certificate to Amazon to go with it!   Read this post for the details!

FBW229this fun sketch is the Deconstructing Jen sketch.  I just loved Jen’s sample card this week!

the color combination was inspired by the So Artful Challenge – rust and turquoise.

Hearts a Flutter

I have had my eye on this sweet image from Tiddly Inks for a very long time.  I finally caved today and purchased a few of the digi’s of Wryn.  Isn’t she adorable?!?  The sketch is the Deconstructing Jen sketch #83.  Jen’s having a DT Call, and I thought I’d give it a shot.  I love her sketches!!

Edited to Add (ETA):  I decided to try out my new speedlite flash that I got from Santa this year to see if I could improve on my photos a bit.  Still not where I’d like them to be, but hey, I’m learning.  :)   This next photo was taken with the flash, in automatic mode.  The photo above was taken without a flash (with my daylight lamp shining on the card) in manual mode.  I think I prefer the speedlite photo better, but I do like that without the flash you really see the sparkle of the stickles.    I guess I need to read the manual and learn to use the new flash in manual and see if I can capture the sparkle.

The other difference is that in the first photo I used two sheets of white card stock (below and behind the card).  In the next photo I just set the card on a cream colored table.  The black behind is actually the granite of my fireplace.  I think I like how the black background makes the photo pop more.

Which photo do you prefer???  Please leave a comment and let me know.  I’d love to hear your feedback.
